Time

Time

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We count most years of life well spent the few touched by sorrow well lost I know the best that came and went the others bought at twice the cost

"
becky and i

It takes some time to find the way

that leads us to life's master plan

Till then we take it day by day

as the boy grows to be a man

We count most years of life well spent

the few touched by sorrow well lost

I know the best that came and went

others purchased at twice the cost

We sway in rhythm to the time

as we dance through years and weather

Matching hearts beat to inner rhyme

we'll end it the same together

When minds are tired and our hearts old

oh we'll cherish those days of strife

For one more chance to be so bold

as to touch heaven in this life

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
It is always with the greatest humility that I admit that any man who holds within himself the feeling of greatness has a woman who grants him that bravado.

Always philosophical, Tate. I do tend to agree with Marie, however, on that V.2 line 3. - 'that' came and went instead of 'have' came and went. There is always a certain wistfulness about your poetry, that life is passing by too quickly, and you are looking back already, before it's done. Hang on to the present, my friend, before it also becomes the past.

A dose of optimism is never unneeded. Thank you for reminding me of the innerconnectivity binding us all together, no matter how far we may stray. I can see that you feel in more aspects of life than most.

This is a beautiful poem...I'm glad to hear such a sweet story! I especially liked the last line 'For one more chance to be so bold/as to touch heaven in this life' - as the saying goes, on earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it!:') I have a feeling that your poem might go really well with this contest...maybe you can check it out if you have the time!

You are most welcome
Beautiful words of love expressed with true emotions. I have had these feeling many times and I am always optimistic that the love I am with now is my final true love. But sometimes the choice is not your's to decide.
