Bear

Bear

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

He is privy to her secrets none of which he will ever share the lifelong friend, who in the end is her very own Teddy Bear

"
payton and bear

Paytons Bear: True treasure is when her own children will one day hold her little bear and again know the joy that counts above all else his "Love"

Here was the friend that heard the cries

from the monster under the bed

Who stood watch over her at night

just to scare away fear and dread

Through all the pain and the laughter

he's shared the pleasures and the tears

Watched over her every day

as the months have now turned to years

He is privy to her secrets

none of which he will ever share

The lifelong friend, who in the end

is her very own Teddy Bear

He takes the blame for toys left out

while passing her a knowing wink

The mess was his upon the floor

and the dishes not in the sink

His the last face she sees each night

a smile, greets her every morn

Their's is a friendship born of love

the bond that will never be torn

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
In the four years since my granddaughter was born she has had a Bear. This bear stood her in good stead through laughter and tears. He was there when her father died. He dried up all the tears that they both cried. He has slept beside her every night and played with her everyday taking on any roll her skits called for. Payton is rarely seen without Bear.So when her mother called to tell us Payton had taken Bear to show and tell at preschool I had to smile. For here is the repository of all her hopes, dreams and fears. All contained in the little bear with the big heart.

teddy bears are the absolute best friends...and they won't talk back or make fun of us, either.

Dang! I reviewed, submitted, and got kicked out.
It is interesting to see what children will hold on to for security and comfort. Our eldest had a white floppy stuffed cat, our son a baby blanket and our youngest a toy lamb. The cat and lamb reside in our basement. The blanket? Our son took it with him when he left home and still has it. : )
Well done Tate, a lovely little story.

Thank you Isnt it though they always have a favorite and often it is an inanimate like her bear
your pic, note and music has already brought the lump and the tears .. so sorry for the loss of your son-in-law ... you must have loved him as well .. my oldest daughter just became engaged and her boyfriend called me the night before he would ask her to marry .. to ask me if i would bless their union ... it is not often these days to find such quality in youth .. but obviously you did .. my opinion of an incredible verse:
"He takes the blame for toys left out
while passing her a knowing wink
The mess was his upon the floor
and the dishes not in the sink"

so glad to read .. thanks for sharing!!

That's one of those thing toys can do in the life of our little children. Is a never- provoking inhuman friend. Just like poetry, it wipe away tears, in the time of sorrow, and pain. It serve as a souvenir of past experience. Well done, Mr. Tate Morgan.

Oh Tate you always take us on a roller coaster ride of emotions going to such heights and such depths that I wonder sometimes whether my heart can take it. Maybe it is that I like the feelings you drag from me making me feel things I haven't known in a long time. Bravo As always thank you for inviting me to be a part of your life.

Precious, another one totally worth reading. I have to agree with one of the
other reviews, I never realized how important a toy can be.
