A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Is the duality of nature the cornerstone of our own conscience?

"
Hippie Chic

Granddaughter Payton and I pondering the truths of the universe.

Often I ponder the question

can one think too much for ones good

Until it becomes an obsession

on wondering if a man should

Why do I query my own mind

as sadly I prove myself right

The two halves becoming entwined

in tauntings that cause them to fight

Is this my own duality

with the conscience I hold so dear

Or do I taste mortality

with it's old friend mighty fear

I find myself set in my ways

unlike those nights back in my youth

When I was such a fire ablaze

who never questioned life or truth

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
The heights and depths of a poets life are filled with joys beyond compare and depths of despair. However I wouldn't trade that for a life of dull monotony.
One thing for sure we know Love. We know pain. They are two sides of the same coin. However they are the way we balance life leaping from one trial into another. We love with all our being and when disappointed we cry from the depths of the Heart.

Often I find my own mind is at odds with itself and I wonder if this is the duality of nature or the cornerstone of our own conscience?
I look at my granddaughter and all I see is absolutes.

LOL where have you been my entire life!...words to fill the Spirit and question the soul!...ahhh choices and the on- going battle within..( that coming from an over-thinker myself) BUT, look at that child! There it is...perfection with endless possibilities.

Age seems to be memory loss. My sister has diaries with happy events written down. Pick up a diary and she can sink into a blessed memory of the past. HUM...wish I had thought of this. Valentine

Oh Tater I fear you worry too much. I wonder what it must be like to always be thinking. You need to relax and have a drink. There are great advantages to being able to lay back and watch the world go by without. It is always so nice to read your thoughts. This is no exception. I wish you could know the peace of mind that comes from not worrying about all the things that we cant help. Sadly I fear you are right though We cannot close our minds to the things around us.

Nice piece and as age overtakes us we seem to overthink life and sometimes that causes us to miss many great moments.

The choices we make point back to us ... as the friend and guide of life ... in its journey for joy and harmony. Its an old saying which says ... ' when the student is ready the teacher will come.' Till then we prepare ourselves for the day we will be ready. A cool poem that explores the paths of our choices.

looks to me Peyton has all the answers and giggles over such a lunk head of a grandpa! :)) always i enjoy reading your poetry Tate .. this one especially brings me comfort as i reminisce my youthful exuberance of jagged peaks and bottomless pits ... there is so much to be said about age and experience that lends contentment in this very simple now ... i like that you mention fear ..i read somewhere a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile back it is the first enemy to defeat for the spiritual man ;) your pic is perfect!

Nicely done. Good flow and an interesting topic that I'm sure many writers experience throughout their lives. I know I find myself often wrestling with my mind, both searching for answers and forsaking that which I find. Life is interesting to say the least. I enjoyed your poem, good job
