Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders

.

What makes a man's character

are built of actions on life's field

Not from the size of his body

nor of the power it may wield

What makes these men so precious

are the gifts they share each day

Carrying our dreams with them

 teaching us along the way

Who can say they do not cherish

the idol of childhood dreams

Building for them an altar

where their tiny heart then beams

The traits that we adore in them

what we all wish that we could be

Sown from seeds of imperfection

and that handsome humility

Rising again, time after time

drawing on the strength all but gone

But oh what lofty heights indeed

for us to place our laurels on

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
What is the value of a life that is built upon the shattered dreams of others? This man Bernie Sanders the voice of our past who has been crying out to us for half a century to put away our swords, beat to plowshares our weapons and pick up the sad the lonely the poor. With what nobility can we claim superiority without compassion? Successful society is not built upon the admiration of the rich and youthful. It is built upon the dignity of human life
Tate Morgan

One evangelical who graduated with a double major from liberty university and sat through Bernie's speech wrote these prophetic words
"When I heard Bernie speaking , when I saw that guy on stage at Liberty University, I saw John the Baptist...crying out to the religious leaders, the Pharisees of his day, calling them corrupt and complicit with those who have all the power and all the money and all the wealth, and abandoning the people that God loves, that God cares about...
Those words echoed in my heart as I listened to that crazy, hoarse-voiced, wild-haired Jew standing in front of the religious leaders of the Evangelical Movement, calling us to account, as a Jew once did before, telling us that he intends to care for the least of these, to clothe the naked, to shelter the homeless, to care for the sick, to set the prisoners free.
I wouldn't be much of a Christian if I didn't stand on the side of gospel for the poor, because, the last time I checked, that's where my master Jesus stood, and I'll stand with Him. And, for now, that means I stand with Bernie Sanders."

Well... When it comes to fights about religious stuff...and corruption in the lines of the leaders of these systems of religions, i can't help but laugh at them all. all the systems, and their leaders, twisting words to support their claims. They're all just liars, power maniacs... just like politicians, they crawl, scratch, bite, so they have more brainwashed dumbasses following them.

sorry, but that's just what they all do.

i like the poem though.

This is a very solid and high quality poem. It speaks well of virtues and character and portrays it in a very poetic way that speaks in many details of imagery to the reader's heart. Such as:

Who can say they do not cherish
the idol of childhood dreams
Building for them an altar
where their tiny heart then beams

Well spoken and introduced imagery and metaphor.

In fact, this poem was so good that it was selected by NavWorks Press for publication in our volume, Sometimes Anyway. See my Writer's Café blog for more details: http://www.writerscafe.org/navworks/blogs/Release-of-Two-New-Books/126161/

Well done, a great read with enduring heart.

Thank you so much you truly humble me
I think many of us have special heroes that are our safe harbors as we live our lives. Mine are my Grandfathers, both were incredible men, one a coal miner who always looked at my Grandmother with such love that even as a little girl, I knew I would never settle for a man who didn't love me like that. and my Dads Father my Grandpa Miller for whom every machine and engine spoke to him and he could fix anything, I will never forget taking him to met "the Caterpillar people" which proved to be a lot of engineers and PHD's who were so excited to meet this short little man with only a 3rd grade education. And sure enough, after spending three hours with the new combine, he diagnosed the problem and showed them the repair..
I realize that you are speaking of Bernie Sanders in a political sense, while I admire him and wish his ideas were workable, he will get NO cooperation from either the House or the Senate. and you know one of the right wing wing nuts will shoot and kill him. Sanders is the only candidate from either party that has not sold his soul to the Lords of Dark Money. Do you think they would let me turn most of the House and Senate, half the Supreme Court and all the sell out presidential candidates into mulch, so their BS will be in a useful form? One can wish.

With all this talk of the Presidential debates, I find it interesting to hear every side: each supporter of their own candidate. Personally, I prefer to be left out of these things. But it's fascinating to listen to views of others, while I myself remain neutral to the subject.

As for your poem, (I profusely apologize for being so off topic!) it felt less like an advertisement and more like a character's viewpoint in a story. That's a good thing, as I see it.

I am going to Liberty in a few months for college, so your description of the poem itself really spoke to me. As for the poem itself, it was written in such a way that it both repelled and attracted, similar to how politics function nowadays. I have always loved your writing, and this piece has a sort of curious charm to it.
