Poetry

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Poetry and I laughed to see what with her beauty she had done We sat under an umbrella while we both waited for the sun

"

Poetry had once walked with me

held to my heart when I was sad

Helped me mend from the pain I penned

brought comfort to sorrows I had

Poetry watched my heart shiver

gave me a blanket for the cold

Held my head while lying in bed

made me wish to live to be old

Poetry then danced the night away

to entertain this sullen heart

Both cried to the tale, I tried

from life's wisdom she did impart

Poetry was my only friend

as rain poured upon hallowed dreams

Lessened the toll on my soul

lent me comfort or so it seems

Poetry offered me her hand

as we danced around the pouring rain

Washing away in just one day

what poison wreaked from months of pain

Poetry and I laughed to see

what with her beauty she had done

We sat under an umbrella

while we both waited for the sun

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
My darkest days were comforted by the poetry they inspired.
One of my favorite poems is this one. It tells the tale of how pain is so relative to our age and circumstance
Softened by Time's consummate plush,
by Emily Dickinson

Softened by Time's consummate plush,
How sleek the woe appears
That threatened childhood's citadel
And undermined the years.

Bisected now, by bleaker griefs,
We envy the despair
That devastated childhood's realm,
So easy to repair.

Such a strong dictation of what poetry means to those who create it. Completely the truth, the comfort and joy of such a thing that we may give birth to that shall never judge us, ever. In a world where nothing makes sense, we can create a map through our words and be cradled by our emotions. Bravo!

poetry was a friend ,always by my side
he helped mend those deep wound even when i got mad
he was the only ..to take my hand and bring comfort
when i used to suffer he was like a cover ,gave me warmth
helped keep my sanity whenever i was on edge
when i found life was too much,he told me it was nice yet to live even to get too old
he danced for me ,straightened things in my mind..that would go astray
so many wise words to open my mind, the only friend when dreams did fade away
there were moments of so dark when she showed me moments of blinding light
and told me to follow she said..i will take you to lands where no pains or aches for the likes of you
and us..i believed in her words and danced through all the pain
she and i laughed ,through bitterness i smiled,i was in a trance
which only she could bring..i will be faithful to you always..you like brought me from the dead..i thank you
ohh my friend what lovely words ,i have always felt these what comfort she always brought to me
lovely write..

Oh I LOVE this! So relateable. Every line! Isn't it crazzzy how comforting writing or poetry can be? It really does help to write emotions and feelings down. Or even to write something that only makes sense to you. I really loved this poem. Everything about it. I'm sure a lot of people will understand and be able to relate to this writing! Once again...great piece! :)

I love this! You have just written one of my new favorite poems! I often feel this way about poetry (and writing in general), and some of my darkest times were lit only by the dim light of a pen scribbling beneath the stars.
I love the last two lines, so hopeful and true. This is an inspiring, relateable, and haunting write! You did so well, I would truly give much to have your talent.
Keep writing, please, you would be doing us all such an honor!

Dear Tate,

Ah, the Grand Muse, Poetry. Aren't we all in love with her? She inspires such passions and releases such desires. And when she leaves, perhaps for just a moment, the evidence of her presence, the poem, remains with us.

This is another romantic, idealistic poem, Tate. This seems to be your forte. I can feel the words spilling from your spirit as you are carried forward by your Muse.

Greatly enjoyed.

Best regards,

Rick

Nice poem. There is a lot of rich emotion here. The truth in it speaks for itself. You did a wonderful job of expressing the ups and downs of life.

Poetry, is such a sweet release. It helps us through times that are hard and lets us relive times that bring us happiness.
the last two lines are my favorite:
"We sat under an umbrella as
While we both waited for the sun"

Brings thoughts of hope, poetry is our dearest friend and will be with us forever.
As always you picked beautiful music to go with your piece, it gives us an idea of were your coming from. :)
