Homeless Soul

Homeless Soul

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

The lonesome anguish beckons Love lost aches and torments so Ferrell demons of the black night Seem as to never let him go

"

A man knows not his purpose

until left along life's road alone

Letting go things of his former life

caring not what he may own

As then he finds solace to cry

when he sees that he is so real

Living through dark rains night

he then knows that he can feel

In that one divining moment

his purpose becomes so clear

Caring no more for adventure

he now knows the taste of fear

The lonesome anguish beckons

love lost aches and torments so

Feral demons of the black night

seem as to never let him go

The love that once beheld him

has him thinking he's insane

The mirror shows no mercy

to the face held in it's pane

The man you passed by the road

who looked as to never sleep

May be he that touched love's heart

with a soul both wide and deep

Having been divorced I can tell you it is not unusual for a man who loves with his heart to inherit the winds of perdition.

A very deep piece; very open and honest. There are many shades to the love dream and most people seem to focus on the beautiful beginnings or the bitter end, but not so much the aftermath. Seldom do we delve into what we carry with us when the love is over, reflecting on the person we once were as opposed to the person we are now. How often do we stop to think about how love, or being in love, has changed us? How often do we consider that after love is lost we have something gained, even if it is only an understanding of who we are? This work really gives one something to think about, and I feel, as with most good poems, it is open to different interpretations pending upon each person's personal experiences with love and love lost. Extremely well written.

I can relate to this poem. It's not an easy road to journey down, but puts you more in touch with your heart and soul. Allows one to explore who they are down deep inside.

Beautiful, and sad. The way you transfer melancholy into your writes, and give it a tinge of smoothness, coupled with the way you rhyme and flow so naturally, makes all your poems a joy to read.
I do not claim to understand the pains of divorce, though I know that growing up without a father, when your parents have divorced, has its own set of disadvantages. There isn't a lot of negative angst, as is customary with other poems on the same subject.
The way you start the poem is magnificent

"A man knows not his purpose
until left along life's road alone
Letting go things of his former life
caring not what he may own"

You use some really interesting imagery, and deal with the process of disillusionment really well.
"In that one divining moment
his purpose becomes so clear
Caring no more for adventure
he now knows the taste of fear"

You've dealt with the actual subject of pain, with the painful realizations that
"The love that once beheld him
has him thinking he's insane
The mirror shows no mercy
to the face it once had paned"

And once again, the conclusion leaves me speechless.
"The man you passed by the road
who looked as to never sleep
May be he that touched love's heart
with a soul both wide and deep"

This is a write drenched in honesty and reality. Extremely well written. I loved reading it.

A really deep poem, and I can just love the rhyme and try to understand more of it, again and again, every time I read it!

Thanks for sharing, Tate!

Interesting poem. Good flow and rhythm. I love the shading within this, for some reason the texture and the colors stood out for me even though they weren't necessarily described. The setting is good and the emotional portrayal is great. I particularly enjoyed the line "The mirror shows no mercy / to the face it once had paned" great imagery!

I see the beautiful writing, but I don't feel conected with the homeless man, I'm not quite sure why. I really do like this poem and if I did connect, I think it would be absolutely brilliant.
