Thoughts

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We look back to our childhood years the comfort of old friends For all must see, forever we fear how this life must end

"

From time to time I wonder thoughts

that dream of what might be

I wander glade, stroll promenade

make sense of all I see

____________________________

Valleys, rivers, majestic woods

of these, playgrounds are made

Where my clan played kick the can

and man was measured, weighed

____________________________

We look back to our childhood years

the comfort of old friends

For most must see, forever we

fear how this life must end

__________________________

That promise of a wondrous place

where we forever play

Bestows the thought it may be bought

through faith if we don't stray

______________________________

What  waits there for us, up above

that we do not have here

Man's strength comes not from his life's length

but stems from love not fear

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
I suppose we all want to believe that in the end we will be rewarded for our deeds. I say what matters in this life? Could it be we learn kindness is it's own reward? I will talk to God when and if I see him. But friends don't need help in Heaven. They need help on Earth. So I shall do the best I can with the resources allotted to me. May all your wishes come true.
This particular write uses a ABCB rhyme scheme where the 2nd and 4th lines rhyme. It has a hidden inner rhyme in the 3rd line of each quatrain or 4 lines. To that I use a syllable count of 8686.I hope you like it

i think we not only have our hell on earth...in some respects, heaven is here too...

maybe we just do a test run here and figure out what we want to do again..either down there or up there.

we always wonder what is next...can't help to.

The last stanza, my favorite. It brings the poem home, the message is clear and well written. Your deliverance amazing as always.

What waits there for us, up above
that we do not have here
Man's strength comes not from his life's length
but stems from love not fear

Great great poem It could not have been better answered. What will happen when we die? No one knows. There will always be that question in life. And it will never be answered until we actually do die. As for is living we will always think that there is something better in the heavens. That's how we have out different religions. Everyone believes that when we die we will go to a better place. ( all excePr Hindus and Buddhists) only those two religions believe in reincarnation ( there may be a few more) think that we will be in this endless cycle of life and death. And only when we have reached peace with ourselves we will be transported to a better place. We will never know what is waiting for us on the other side but this poem indicates that we all see a brighter otherside. Beautiful poem!!!

Hints almost of lament. Is most hard to imagine anything better than what we know of here in this life.

Excellent write Tate.

I very much like this one. This hit home for me and was totally relatable (sp?).
...'We look back to our childhood years
the comfort of old friends
For most must see, forever we
fear how this life must end...'

"But friends don't need help in Heaven. They need help on Earth."
How very true, Tate. Yes, we all do~

I too took that last line to heart. Strength of man is determined by their love for those around them and their acceptance of fate.

Loved the last line! Very touching poetry here, Tate. No body can do enough to earn a reward. Our deeds, if weighed, bad and good, would never see our eternal souls find peace. The price is paid by Love. You show your love in your poetry for one... By seeing others and forgiving them, and yourself, you become an expresion of Love. "God is Love" Love will welcome those who would be happy to recieve it. Forever!
The concept was beautiful and the poetry supported the thought as well.
Enjoyed your work as usual.
Be well Tate.
