The Stranger

The Stranger

A Poem by Amila Jay
"

A poem about a stranger..

"
It was cold outside
With mist on all sides
When a galloping was heard
From the west of the hillside
The wind was howling into the night
He got down from his horse
And forced his way by
There was a small brown cottage
With a dimly lit lamp inside
He knocked on the hard door
With a timid knock
Not hard enough to hear
And waited for sometime
His heavy breath lapsing against life
The dimly lit lamp went off in a while
He thought to himself and went past by
And the stranger went on till early morn
Before he died

A well-penned poem for such a sprout of that age. This is a good poem for a dark night. I like the font usage, it seems to fit comfortably with the theme of the writing. Although I must say I'm wondering what his ailment was? The plague perhaps?

I enjoyed this poem very much.

There is such a mystery here... the questions that rise as to the stranger... the night darkness his cloak... You pull us into the scene and we all stand in wonder in the early morning darkness...

A very good first poem. Remind of the story. Where Jesus went to many places and no-one would assist. In the end. The poorest of the people gave him bread and drink. They were blessed and rewarded. Your poem ending was so kind. Thank you for a excellent poem.
