The Adultress

The Adultress

A Poem by Ciara Di Salle
"

I don't know where this came from, not based on my own experience this time

"

Reaching for nothing,

Grasping at air.

Writhing and screaming,

Such twisted affairs

She’s danced with the devil,

A treacherous fling.

Broken and disheveled,

She’ll wait for the spring.

It is interesting when it comes out of thin air perhaps it is the winter of some ones soul? , it is powerful in its discord

Great insight, thank you for the reviews!
"Reaching for nothing,
Grasping at air"
I feel the desperation here-- but you know, desperation is a trippy thing. Like sometimes you can get lucky with a desperate act, but sometimes not so lucky and wind up dancing "with the devil."
Oh yea, I like how the final word mentions the "spring" and offers a little hope.
Well anyway, thought provoking work however you interpret it:) Write on!

Many thanks ^.^
The character in the poem is trying to say that the devil does not exist and only when persons cultivate it within their minds.

I have to say I had not thought of that but I love the concept!
The last 2 lines really helped add more intrigue and ambiguity to the piece, making the character (initally portrayed as vile) seem more human. In essence, good stuff.
