My Lord and me

My Lord and me

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

a conversation with my Lord

"

Depart from me for I am defiled
Condemned, sinner, a prodigal child
With guilt tormenting my inmost conscience
I should be deprived of Your holy presence.

My most beloved child, please stay
Let not your fears drive me farther away
It's been a long time since you called me friend
Do you have a moment with me to spend?

Why, oh Lord? I don't understand
All this time You have withheld Your hand
Where's Your glory and Your celestial host
Especially just when I needed them most?

I was, I am, and I will always be
Your God, your love--all yours for eternity
I've always been with you every second of your life
In joy and in sorrow, especially in strife.

But why does it seem like I was always alone
Despite all the prayers I had uttered and known?
I lived my days dying, I was consoled in grief
My faith, once strong, turned to hateful disbelief.

I know, My child, what you have been through
And it's never in My nature to just abandon you
Your eyes failed to see, your mind failed to know
All the graces that I never missed to show.

.
.
.
.

Lord, I am sorry for my careless neglect
My sins stem from my refusal to reflect
I was wrong, please forgive the faith I lack
If I repent, will You still accept me back?

Child, there is one thing that you need to learn
My perfect love is not at all yours to earn
But to accept from My heart's overflowing bounty
I desire not that you again depart from me.

In your flock I was once a stray sheep
But now, my Lord, I am Yours to keep
Comfort me with your song and may it always be heard
That wolves may flee knowing I'm with my Shepherd.

You can only hear me without the world's noise
For I speak in silence, I am your heart's voice
Stay with me, and grieve me not with your loss
But if you do, find your way back to the cross.

A wonderful and touching expression of your faith, Arzel! And I enjoyed how you wrote it as a dialogue between you and Jesus, rather than just from one side or the other. In fact, I can almost imagine that He would express words this way, somehow (or at least in communicating with you).

This awesome, I can relate to this in so many ways and it so true that we need to shut out the worlds noise in order to hear his voice. Very well put thanks for sharing I enjoyed reading it.

Thank you, Maya. :)
lessons learned and re-learned eh!? i have deep respect for the faith reflected in this poem... i think it is well done but risky ... confessional type poems are always risky .. but though i think this is personal ... it is also distant enough to allow anyone to relate... such wonderful words of advice from such a young woman ... always amazed Blue! nice job!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it.
Very beautiful, Blue, you convey the redemption of Jesus Christ perfectly. This is a poem that deserves to be hung up on a wall and read every morning by those who feel uncertainty in their faith. You clearly have a strong theological grasp of the nature of Christ.

Thanks a lot, Eddie. This is one of my few favorites that tackle faith.
