Silver lining

Silver lining

A Poem by Ayushi Jha

Mamma, please take me home,
my tears can no more fill the spaces
that this world has created.
It can no more seek my thirst,
for that of others, it lost its way.
I am dripping in rain , Mamma.
My sorrows ain't washing away.
Those puddles I used to jump in
as a kid,
no more put a name to my face.

Now, as my spine bends,
I see deep and deeper.
Now, that my spine bent,
I should've known better.
Mamma, make me sit.

That day, slowly,
the blanket crept on me
along with the cool winds,
yet the days were longer.
"I'm okay" was all I could've
done to you.
For the first time,
my Mamma had no clue.
I felt my spine bend a little more.

I felt my spine bend a little more,
my eyes, a little sore,
My lips trembled for the words untold.
I should've...

Six in the morning
with sinking lashes
and buried eyes,
my gaze danced around.
Danced so much so it knew
all the scars on the walls
hidden by the shadows,
hidden to the dark.
I tried walking on the rim of a scar;
To another,
still my toe bled,
and my knees shivered.
When Mamma?

When will my shadow be a mere shadow,
beautiful rounds and curves,
with more folds and a fold more
to kiss my  bruises, cuts and burns.
Mamma, come hold me, my fears.
I am searching for a silver lining
in a very different world.

I enjoyed this as it seems it tells the way we feel as we get older and the world gets colder. The comfort of home is longed for.

Thank you!
WOW... very powerful writing. It is hard to be a person who cares deeply for humanity in a world that is so brutal a lot of the time. But it will never stop me from breaking no matter how far I bend. Something tells me it is the same for you.

Thank you!
My first impression was that the poem was little too long. After reading it, I wouldn't change a thing. Great job!

This is heartbreaking. You can hear the desperation and how the feeling escalates. Really sad but a really great write.
