Boys and Girls

Boys and Girls

A Poem by Avery
"

I wrote this with the teenagers of today in mind and how we go from innocent and happy children to the broken teenagers we are today.

"
We were the little boys and girls
running around the park
crying over scraped knees
scraped knees that could be fixed with a kiss
Hands were filled with m&m's
Then we were tucked into bed by mom and dad
awaiting for tomorrow

We were the older boys and girls
running to our next class
crying over forgotten homework
forgotten homework that didn't matter
Hands were filled with aspirin to relieve the aching headache
Then going to bed afraid of what tomorrow would bring

We are the teenage boys and girls
pacing around our room
crying over every flaw and mistake
flaws and mistakes that will never be erased
Hands are filled with lethal pills
Then collapsing into bed with an understanding
that tomorrow will not come

An emotion filled piece. I liked the parallel between M&M's and the pills. Good job!

lots of crying...and the older we get..there is no one there but ourselves to assuage the pain...i like the process of maturity in this.

very well put together piece here.

Wonderful write.
Repeating certain words in second and third lines of each stanza looks great.
Enjoyable read.

This is a very strong piece of poetry which shows the decline which you described in your title. it told a story, keep on writing!
