All My Teeth

All My Teeth

A Poem by barleygirl
"

thanksgiving prayer . . .

"

This past July I reached three score
without becoming a longwinded bore
a few fundamentals now painfully sore
and I’m lucky I still have all my teeth.

Gushing buckets brimming with thanks
not many bodily creaks and clanks
so blessed I’m not yet shootin’ blanks
even braless mine don’t hang beneath.

Open to the wonder of being bewitched
only occasionally I come unhitched
as long as my steps aren’t too pitched
I’ll probably still keep all my teeth.

How can I express all my gratitude
for clear well water and healthy food?
Sorry some are stuck and feelin’ screwed
but let’s keep weaponized words in sheath.

After sixty years I thought I’d be dead
and I’m still suckin’ vast fresh air instead
although I prefer much less bloodshed
at least I still have all my teeth.

The title drew me in (for obvious reasons).. It's a blessing indeed if you have all your teeth at 60. I would say it's awesome! 😊

You still have your sense of humour too.,Margie. While we can still laugh at ourselves, age is only a number.
You've given me a new perspective with this ditty.
At 5 foot nothing I'm still grateful for small mercies. (tee hee) (((Hugs)))

Thank you for enjoying my playfulness. I always enjoy smiles! (((HUGS)))
That's quite a thing, having your teeth, and certainly something to be grateful for. (I got mine, too--all but the one taken out by an all too crunchy Frito) Don't you wish we were like old cars that could be fixed up like new? You could get a new set of wheels and I could get a new engine! Great writing as always.

So lovely. Your words flow easily from one's tongue. (Hopefully I'll be as delightfully graceful and wonderful if I make it to 60.)
