Buoyant Streaming

A Poem by barleygirl
"

an answer on the breeze . . .

"

With the shine of dawn tarnished by lies
new waves of trickery threaten to capsize
raw contempt infuses public discourse
surrogates spew venom with fetid force.

These days I yearn for an outdated ease
slowly transported by the buoyant breeze
an unsullied source is steadily streaming
to spark my fancy and infuse dreaming.

As I witness frolicking of lively limbs
all becomes possible even my whims
ravages of strife are suddenly long gone
futures not crushed by a two-bit con.

Unmotivated by rants of doomsday
watching trees tango carries me away
as tons of tickles invigorate my skin
the journey of life gets an upbeat spin.

Not heeding the flow of erratic outrages
listening instead to the ancient sages
soaking up wisdom carried on the wind
returning to kindness and sanity again.

Technology covers up knowledge until it is completely forgot. I can relate to the theme of your poetically astute write - we need to look back at past wisdom and teachings. The Royal Library of Alexandria (3rd century BC) was a university and research institute, which had faculties of medicine, mathematics, astronomy, literature, as well as other subjects. A chemical laboratory, astronomical observatory, anatomical theatre for operations and dissections, and a botanical and zoological garden were some of the facilities of the educational institution where 14,000 pupils studied, laying the foundation of modern science. Looks like we have been going backwards ever since! :-)

But this is what they call "progress". Unfortunately the younger generation will probably never experience, or even recognise the relative freedom of natural living, so your poem takes on an even deeper poignancy. Mass communication has manipulated thinking to the "inspired" level of tweeting.

And a correct answer it is! Trump de-natures Nature while we find joy in getting back to it. Love the imagery of trees tangoing and wisdom of the past "blowing in the wind"...Great form, rhythm and rhyme. Love this!

I always thought that we are not progressing, the legacies that we keep finding buried are proof of that. Very insightful and actual voice your poem has. Beyond lovely done :)

That's a great and wise way to view the world :) Hugs!
The first stanza is stark truth clothed in your eloquent words. Would that we all could stop, take a breath, and watch trees "tango" and "frolic" to refresh our souls and reset our minds. The nature of Nature is vastly underrated for its healing properties and its abilities to put what's real in this life in perspective. But, progress has paved many a paradise to put in parking lots for our gas guzzling cars and many have no access to such a simple thing as the music of tree leaves in the wind.

We are living in interesting crimes ( woops, that was a Freudian slip - I meant to say times!) You have written a clever, thoughtful and humerous response to the present tragic comedy that is trump. It is reassuring that there are many like yourself who are speaking out in subtle and literary way- the antithesis of twittertrump.
