Savor the Coolness

Savor the Coolness

A Poem by barleygirl
"

photo shows my fog spilling . . .

"

Sipping hot java on my back porch
facing a week of unrelenting scorch
I inhale deeply of sage-scented cool
watching ocean fog spill and pool.

Activities start at the break of dawn
before the furnace blast is turned on
damp air pungent with country cologne
fog blanket permeates to the bone.

The wild Pacific caresses some sand
beyond the wilderness ridges so grand
I’m over here on the other side
where fog flows down like a landslide.

Savoring the early morning chill
as a hovering hawk dives for its kill
a family of quail coo and skitter
dogs sniff the trail of an elusive critter.

Thankful to God for my solitary space
feeling tingles of coolness kiss my face
one last bracing sip and I’ll get going
as a rustic rooster concludes his crowing.

I just loved this poem for the elegant rhyming and superb beauty delivered to the reader with an amazing choice of words. Indeed, life is made meaningful by these simple, solitary, everyday moments and not the grand, occasional ones. Its good to be alive! Appreciated so much.

Yes I am, and hell yes I do. Thought this morning it was really warm by 8 am.
Your descriptions always paint the scenes before our eyes. Your gratitude spills through the words. When it comes to describing the nature or the moments you seem to do with such an ease. It is like you don't write but they come from you instantly in one stroke.
You seem to enjoy the moments..

Thank you for sharing Margie.

My pleasure entirely............
The quiet solitude of your natural environment sounds like the perfect antidote to the mayhem that we "townies" call relaxation. Just your words help to remind us that peace and quiet do still exist.
Thanks Doc . (((Hugs)))
