Everybody Must Get Boned

Everybody Must Get Boned

A Poem by barleygirl
"

spoof on Bob Dylan song . . .

"

Well they’ll bone ya as you’re climbing out of bed
they’ll bone ya just exactly like they said
they’ll bone ya as you slather up your toast
they’ll bone ya and then turn around and boast
but I would not grab the telephone
everybody must get boned.

Well they’ll bone ya in your next job interview
they’ll bone ya just to watch you sit and stew
they’ll bone ya when you finally reach your stride
they’ll bone ya til you’re puffy and cross-eyed
but there’s no need to abandon the zone
everybody must get boned.

Well they’ll bone ya and your last devoted friend
they’ll bone ya till you’re begging for the end
they’ll bone ya when you’re in the mood to cruise
they’ll bone ya til your brains begin to ooze
it’s normal to be feeling kinda stoned
everybody must get boned.

Well they’ll bone ya til you’re gasping for a breath
they’ll bone ya til it brings on megadeath
they’ll bone ya even if you are inert
they’ll bone ya as they shovel on the dirt
but I would not feel wholly disowned
everybody must get boned.

This is great! The way you've taken inspiration from Bob Dylan's song to create your own strong diatribe on how we are shafted whatever we do and I'm afraid it's his gravelly rasp I hear! It is always good to try something different and this has really worked well.
We have just spent a few days at our Edinburgh festival - the largest arts festival in the world with over a thousand different productions. It is so stimulating and sparks off lots of ideas.

The circle of life. To be boned and tortured. The poem used a hard view on life and it is true. It seems we win rarely. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

What a wonderful clever idea that speaks to a lot of what happens to us today. Regularly.

One of those bright moments I'll never forget is driving through San Francisco in '72, listening to this song. (Well, Dylan's, but your lyrics are just as good.) Ah, the days of bone, boned and jumping bones. I'm especially fond of the latter.

And not in the fun way either! 😉

I love when political commentary meets satire and dark humour. Well said, barleygirl!
