Alexander Valley

Alexander Valley

A Poem by barleygirl
"

true story . . .

"

Remember our last frolic in Alexander Valley
when vineyards were laden, late in northern Cali
we finessed the art form of playful dilly-dally
as was our wont on impulsive weekend trips.

Remember the wanton spell we wove in Cloverdale
a colossal grape cluster you proclaimed the holy grail
squishing juice like paint splatters on my dress so pale
the scented breeze roused an erection from my nips.

Remember skinny-dipping in the Russian River
despite the toasty sun above I couldn’t stop a shiver
wrapping your limbs around me in a dual quiver
as your hungry mouth pressed lightly on my lips.

Remember gulping each other’s essences like wine
innocent bystanders disappeared when we’d entwine
but my life never trained with yours like twisted vine
our adoration riddled by my cryptic postscripts.

Gorgeously seductive and immensely evocative. Nothing like those great moments of youthful fun.

You are fondly welcome.
Evocative of moments that if we are lucky, many of remember fondly.

My enduring memory is a little more prosaic; the first time I met someone at a poetry class and he read me a poem he'd just written.

I got shivers, but sadly, no hungry mouth pressed to my lips. Ah well, it was a lovely poem, as is this. :))

Apart from the sensuality of this poem, I was intrigued by the indiviual monorhymes of each stanza with the common rhyming link of each
fourth line. Have you a generic name for this type of poetry yet?

Thank you so much for the kind encouragement! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
I like these little, somewhat ribald snippets of your good ol' days. Squishin' grapes and erect things--yeowee! A guy once told me about the great times he had around the Russian River and it seems he didn't lie.
