Graceful Decor

Graceful Decor

A Poem by barleygirl
"

Christmas state of mind . . .

"

Watch the timid mouse with a snarly kitty
despite their differing styles of decoration
working together urges grins so giddy
decking halls with balanced cooperation.

To trim the tree, kitty gives mouse a boost
as ornaments of blue and red are included
an angel smiles down from atop the roost
delighted that no hues will be excluded.

Some prefer trees decked in white lights
perhaps a random splash of pure gold
but I find a multi-colored tree so bright
with harmony a noble vision to behold.

Diverse nature knows all species are invited
an example more humans could embrace
homogenous décor can be so shortsighted
that’s why God adorns ALL with His grace.

You express some of the ideas I put into Strange Visitor. I sincerely believe that we are different because God made us that way. Color, religion, sexual orientation - He doesn't make mistakes. I do feel he sometimes expresses an odd sense of humor, at times.

The I'm better than you or mine is better than yours attitude is where we humans begin to really screw things up. If only we would accept each others' differences and live to love and care for one another. Ooops sorry about preaching.

Take care - Dave

A beautiful message, especially for this season. Your work is always fun to read, but also leaves a powerful message. Nice work, once again!

Diversity, that's what makes us such a great country. It sure is hard to get anything done, though.
I like multicolored lights too.
A wonderful little piece of work here.

Truly wonderful piece! I love the sense of unity and warmth your words give me. However, as we know, today the world is utter chaos, as in reflection, it always has been. But despite it all, your words provide a light in a dark tunnel. Fantastic job.

Right back at you.
Indeed, we can learn a lot from the animal kingdom. While the political innuendo is here between the lines, the poem is an endearing one. I especially liked the line, "decking halls with balanced cooperation"....if only! Margie, your rhyming never ceases to impress me. Good one. Lydi**

Thank you!
I like the message that a victim and a predator that love to have that mouse for dinner are able to work together in tolerance and put their opposing selves to work in the spirit of this Holiday.
Wonderful imagery and message.

Loved your social interpretation of this picture. Making use of each other's attributes and skills, regardless of social prejudice is the most effective way to overcome the problems of building a better world .

Blue Mink. Melting pot. You did, margie. lol
It is those 'differing styles of decoration,' that causes so much division and heartache in the world. Of late it all seems to be going so terribly wrong. Three score year and ten is no more than a blink in time; and perhaps if our species had a longer life span and were thus around to face the consequences of their actions,it might be different.

We have rid the world of small pox, which killed almost half a billion people until it was eradicated; wars are no longer world wide, but as just one example, we seem incapable of stopping the horrors inflicted on the people of Syria, where already over five million children have been deprived of their precious childhood.

This is a march to our ultimate destruction and it saddens me greatly that the little mouse and the snarly kitty will perhaps outlive mankind.

Beccy.

what a positive uplifting spirited debate and resolution ..we can all use a bit of that dahlink ;) so grateful you shared ...peace on earth ..and let God bless all indeed ... when i get the most frustrated, angry and dissilusioned with politics ..seems words from the Bible come to mind and remind me just how political Jesus was NOT ..He advised...(basically) pay your taxes ..they belong to Ceasar ..but give to God what really counts ..honest heart and devotion ... i think your poem is so Christmassy ... love ya!

As ever always you express knowledge and instinctive wit amongst great meter.. clever, clever you!
