Creature Coffeeshop

Creature Coffeeshop

A Poem by barleygirl
"

just a little fur fun . . .

"

when cocky cohorts chop non-stop on my rooftop
it’s high time to impishly pop from where we plopped
donning tangerine tops and slurping the sunrise lollipop
as bitsy be-bops overrun our backwoods coffeeshop
with a debonair furry fop who drops in toting his laptop
eager to swap a buoyant belly flop for a tasty drop
while every tie-dye cop hovers a probing eavesdrop
only to spy millie mop atop a driftwood countertop

ducky doolittle flaps while his foamy formula fraps
soon furfaces must crap so we toss on our skullcaps
before skunks sipping schnapps hasten a handicap
will wobbly props collapse on highly-vexed kneecaps
yet a momentary lapse of wandering memory gaps
beckon a plentiful plunge into my cannabis knapsack
as hopping hippies snack we broadcast a hippie haps
and all around betty boop taps happy high-five slaps

Margie, your poems are a nice diversion/distraction from the heaviness we see in the media and often in the Cafe. Another clever, artistic and amusing poem. I must admit I had to read this one a few times to digest it. Perhaps if I'd been in that "cannabis knapsack" I'd need less time to figure it out. :)

Wonderful use of words my dear friend. I had to read again. This would be very good verbal poetry. The words and thoughts danced with perfection. I loved this poem. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

I liked this one. You are welcome dear Margie.
Wow! Such a piece. I needed a few read-throughs LOL. But I was smiling every time I read it. Great stuff. I'm still smiling just thinking of the piece. Roald Dahl-like in its crazy wordsmith excellence. Amazing.

A happy go lucky romp of a poem! The image of skunks sipping schnapps had me giggling! Not sure this is so much a result of reaching into a cannabis knapsack as it is an LSD trip! :) Thanks for the smiles. Lydi**
