Oh Glorious Gardenia

Oh Glorious Gardenia

A Poem by BLBrown

‘tis Gardenia, I think, stunning shades of cream

I have, these loveliest, in the garden seen

blossoms, doubles singles, thus they flawless grow,

tropical and shaded, rise mid summer’s glow

fluttery the edges, to Peonies they seem kin

charming, bright the lemon drops, sweet gems within

while the bloom, now rests ‘gainst whorls of dark thick green

named for garden, sweetest, oh that flaunted queen

thorn-free, bloodless, so unlike that snooty rose

one can Gardenias steal, or does one suppose

yet only need trail the scent, to catch that thief

how perfume does waft, midst brilliant bud’s motif

Such a splendid write, Barbara! One of my favorite flowers that you have described so eloquently.
"while the bloom, now rests against dark green thick bush
named for garden, comeliest, her flaunted look"
beautiful lines!
