Stain on the Soul

Stain on the Soul

A Poem by BLBrown
"

An abstract poem about how abuse permanently mars the soul.

"

Oh soul mine, I beg you fight another day, for…

It’s in the forging of me

It’s in the edges of me

It’s in the shadows of me

It’s in the mirage of me

so melt, and caress, and shine, and reveal my soul

It’s in the baseness of me.

It’s in the center of me

It’s in the tangle of me

It’s in the terror of me

so spread, so infuse, so unravel, and so fear not my soul

It’s in the rending of me

It’s in the shredding of me

It’s in the wreckage of me

It’s in the essence of me

so purify, so heal, so empower, and so let breath my soul

Author's Note

BLBrown
This uses messages, sometimes abstract, to describe the impact abuse has on a small child's soul. It is not about an inability to recover from abuse. I believe myself to be very close to full recovery if not fully recovered. But writing keeps the cob webs in the corner at bay.

I can recall how it felt, but I do not feel it anymore in real time. It is like going from constantly replayed video to a static picture. I can remember it, and I can write about it, but I don't have to suffer the pain of those emotions anymore, though they are a scar on my soul forever.

I survived the Devil for 18 years and now I live the life I want to live.
