Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by So Ensnared Truth
"

Waiting still...

"

Waiting

I stand silently, under the market clock

This is where we said we’d meet

Isn’t it?

Maybe I’m early

Maybe you’re late

I look up and down the street

In the distance, each girl I see could be you

As they near me I realise they are not

Only strangers

Maybe on their way to meet someone

Someone stood silently

Worrying

Wondering

Waiting...

You related this snapshot of life so well in so few words. The emotions come through clear - the anxiety and the doubt. I like the open ending; does the other person show, or does the narrator give up and go home, or does he stand there til the end of time [hope springs eternal]?

Thanks, Nienor. I guess we'll never know if she showed up...
