Dreaming of Yesterday

Dreaming of Yesterday

A Poem by br.reed

Sometimes late at night

You come to me in my sleep

And sprinkle my dreams with memories

Of what we once used to be

Still haunted by your laugh

Your contiguous and humble smile

And how you wanted to help the world

No matter the odds of hardships

It’s a shame that we don’t talk anymore

That I ended up pushing you away

But not taking care of myself

I should have fought harder for you to stay

I hope that life will treat you well

Wherever you may go

And even though you’ll never read this

I just wanted you to know

I don’t think I’ve ever loved someone

Before I met you,

And although I know it wouldn’t work out

I’m really sorry that I lost you

Sometimes it’s better to not know why

They future turned out the way it did

And just be thankful for what he had

And learn from lessons life can give.
