She Said

She Said

A Poem by Ashley Griffiths
"

When all you need is a kind word.

"

She Said

Look in my eyes

See that I am still inside

Never quite got round

To making a complete escape

Gaze into my hall of mirrors

and see the ambitions

Hung out to remind

All those that seek solace

In never being found

And then she said

I want to pull out

The beauty that's within you

And paint it on your face

Then you might believe

What I seeI

So roll up with your army

And dispense

With your dreams of a better life

How were things

When the world was

Black and White?

And she said

I want to pull out

The beauty that's within you

And paint it on your face

Then you might believe

What I see.

My ambitions stretch as far as.....

Wanting to be in a place

That will add a few years to my life

But yet...

I can't deny

That she has a smile

That could light up

The darkest limbo

So the stage is set

Hide or fly

And she said

I want to pull out

The beauty that's within you

And paint it on your face

Then you might believe

What I seeI

Really nice and interesting piece of writing here. Very deep. I love the second stanza, especially the line about pulling out beauty. Very original and unique. I love it. :)
