Sonnet No. 1

Sonnet No. 1

A Poem by Graybeard
"

Shakespearean sonnet

"
Come sit with me beside the fire tonight,
in flesh our stories writ and thusly told.
The lustrous embers cast the only light,
the flames, the tale we tell, alone behold.

The legend of our love in one night's breadth,
desire penned and lived near shadows edge.
All chapters from the birth of love til death
to write with you in this short time I pledge.

For when the dark draws nigh our tale must end
but ere by flames and words we're left alone
with warmth's last breath upon one whisper's wind
we'll write the sweetest slumber ever known.

Then, all our fires and stories burned to ash,
we'll join the ranks of dreams and tales long past.

Most alluring of sonnets, softly written yet burning hotly. Wonderful poem.
