I Am Your Star

Undying Love

Sweetheart, If I die before you,

I will ask God to make me a star 

because I want to spend my lifetime watching you every day, every night, 

and I can have the clearest sight of you up in the sky. 

I may not be the first man to ask this to Him. 

Maybe that is the reason why 

there are billions of shining lights up there, 

because like me they want to satisfy themselves watching their one and only. 

But my love for you is unique. 

I will beg God to make me the brightest. 

And I assure you that my radiance is only for you, my love. 

We may be billions of miles apart, 

but remember that I am with you as you stand under my light. 

So, whenever you feel that you're alone, 

just stare at me, the only star emitting the most brilliant sparkle. 

And when you feel relieved, 

you can shout to me the words "I LOVE YOU" sweetly, 

then I will answer you back with my most dazzling glow.

This poem is surely from a man in love. Though this more prose than poem their is certain rhythim that gives it that musical cadence that is sure to put any lover in her mood and make her fall in love with you all over again. though this is a poem about a future time of which there are no guarantees , one can only hope that one for whom this intended will appreciate the sentiments of deep loyalty from every line. Nice Ben though I myself struggle with free verse
