Thank you for the review. It was sad.
Two stanzas with two lines only. Does that reflect how it's such a personal thing, just you and him? I'm sorry for your loss if that's the case.

Beautifully written even though it's short. Reminds me of a Philip Larkin style. Straight to the meat and no funny business. That's good!

Final stanza is chilling. We all have our secrets. And that's what makes people so interesting!
