Poison Apples

Poison Apples

A Poem by Elizabeth

poison apples
taste sweeter
with sugar

salt in an open wound
if you close your eyes

and lies are the truth
if you stand
on your head

An interesting poem. The title, for one, caught my attention. And the poem, in itself, puts forth a lot of wisdom in a succint way. Well penned. :)

yumm. sugar is good. not on poison apples though. good piece of writing!

mmm... sugar. if only it, was good for us.

tickles... behind closed eyes, anything... is possible
the last stanza: is why you're my favorite writer.

because : you see: it's straight forward. simple words. : you turn it upside down. and by but. explicitly, turning it , upside done

lies are the truth
up is down
north, south

if you, stand on your head
plus, the title: see? apples, apples apples...
but poisened. how, we forget the word, poisoned.
thanks for the reminder

The truth of it is, it's all true. An excellent representation of everything that is wrong in thiscrazy upside down and sidewise world. Great write, great flow.

Tickles and cleanses, too! Awesome piece, chock full of metaphor, viewing every day suffering with a perspective we could all use. Wonderful, just wonderful. This is the first piece of yours I've read, it intrigues me to delve deeper into your written worlds.

It's short and to the point. Very beautiful and dramatic. My favorite line is "And Lies are the Truth."

An interesting poem- like saying it really doesn't hurt - if we pretend.

As the great leonard Cohen once said (or rather sang): "even damnnation is poisoned with rainbows". Great piece!

Truth disguised as playful nonsense. Poison apples, salted wounds and lies are pretty much government issued. (May not have been the poet's specific intention, but it nonetheless applies.)
Like your style, Elizabeth.

everything tastes sweeter
with sugar.
second stanza: is a wonder
as is the third.
love the way you turn things upside down or backwards, with words
