I know who she was...

I know who she was…

With smoldering eyes burning with the flames of lost identity,

I saw a long lost friend tonight who once was the other name for dignity.

Her bruised skin and multicolored hair hallucinates her to be someone else,

It was the first time in my life when I saw her without that old masquerade.

Her own deeds left no place for her to hide and no place to cry,

So she started living near the main street under shelter as the blue sky.

Obsessed with shame and saturated with guilt and culpability,

She refused to return back to her home and to her own family.

She is still lost from this world but inside waiting for a metamorphose,

As I’m very certain that one day she will become what once she was…

Author's Note

Yesterday, I was just going somewhere with a friend of mine and I saw one girl at the corner of the street and I felt as if like I know her and then when I went close to her, I found that she was actually my old school friend. The irony is that she recognized me very well and everything about me…but then I was totally shocked to see her in that situation, she then told me that she left her home last year and from then she was living on streets, so I insisted her to return to her home but then she refused to do so…So after a long conversation I took her back to her home and her mom was so happy to see her again, she was like constantly crying…then later on her mom told me that she was addicted towards drugs and they admitted to a rehab but then after a month she escaped from the rehab and was lost, they tried their level best to find her again but then she wasn’t found and…..that’s all…

This entire incidence really changed my outlook towards this life a lot…..I can’t just explain it in words…..
Often we write about ourselves, our friends or family but this poem of mine definitely goes to her…..

This type of poem strikes close to our hearts, and there are those
with these types of problems I believe feel so worthless, and not good
enough that they leave their families, friends.

I feel meeting up with her was your fate. Things happen for a reason.
I found it very touching that you took the time to talk to her, and help
her. You took her home, but she left again, and I hope you understand
that that was probably all you could have done for her because she has
to see things for herself and wants to get out on her own.

Thank you so much for sharing this...AD
