But I can't remember me...

But I can't remember me...

A Poem by Bhavya Kaushik

...

But I can’t remember me…

I so clearly remember the past,

And still memorize every single day.

But now everything is turning into ashes,

And I only bleed pain along my way.

I know that I still exist in this brutal world,

But I barely know now who I am?

Here in nothingness I stand,

Where my life seems only like a game.

In my dreams you are always mine,

But in my life you are just a dream.

I only remember you and your name,

Which I only cry and scream.

In front of any mirror whenever I stand,

There is a stranger whom I see.

I still remember you...you… and you….

But… I can’t remember me…

But I can’t remember me

Wow...this is so very powerful. It is full of the torment of life. It is strange how most everyone at some point in their life faces an identity crisis. Sometimes it is hard to remember who we are through the pain. If we are not careful, the pain even becomes our identity. Then for sure it is harder to let go of our pain and heal. It is a scary thing to not be sure of who you are. Kudos on a tremendous write!

this is an extremely moving, brutal, honest poem. To reiterate my fellow readers, there are moments in all of our lives when we ask "Who am I?" You penned this beautifully. Nice work.

Bhavya,
All your poems are so touching and this one is not an exception... The topic you have picked is actually something that happens to a lot of us in general at some point in our lives. The way you express your "self searching" is unique to your talented writing my friend. The words you are using are describing very well, the situation where in you stand. The picture is clear and the heart is open.... thank you so much for sharing.

wow this is the first one of your works that I clicked on, idk at first it was the title that grabbed me and i had to check it out and I read it and damn if I wasn't moved, I mean wow (is all i can really say) but I can totally relate and this is exactly what I look for in a poem, a piece of work that is like looking in a mirror I mean I read words that are like emotions from my own heart. truly beautiful, touched my soul.

I Love the expression and topic, I always wonder if I have forgotten who I am...I already found myself twice as it is O.O and how people alter is evident

I understand this. to lose yourself in another. to find that after devoting so much to them that maybe there isnt more to you left than them. losing our identity to love because you before them and you after are not even remotely the same person. i love and hate a poem that makes you think this way. it is painful but touching
