Would You?

Would You?

A Poem by Bobbie Coelho
"

A thought for Parkinson's Awareness Week

"
If I fell in the street would you stop and ask why?
Would you pick me up and help or walk leisurely by?
If you saw me walking awkwardly wrong
Would you label me as drunk and say I'm not strong?

Or would you smile totally at ease
and ask if I suffer from Parkinson's Disease?
Would you offer a helping hand?
Would you help others to understand?

Wonderful. Years ago I had seizures and was down and jerking a few places when outside. Mostly I think I scared people. Best not to judge anyone until you walk a mile in their shoes. Valentine

This poem touches the heart for many reasons. It is sad how some people are narrow minded and quick to judge based on appearance. Your story is informative and so very well written. Thank you for reaching out to enlighten others.

I like the reasons for the poem. I tell people. Never judge another. Don't assume the worst. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You know the answer, have given it so many times. Forgive me for not reviewing, should have instead of merely a message . Your words show such courage, the fact that you stand and be counted and point the way to people, to ask for their understanding.. empathy and so forth. ((YOU))

There's a word for people like you, Bobbie: 'hero'. (You)
Bobbi, my best friend from childhood has been diagnosed with a very aggressive Parkinson's, and she struggles every day. I have a group of high school friends who meet monthly to go out to eat (going on 40 years now), and my dear friend is part of the group. We refuse to exclude her, and we try to help her while maintaining her dignity. Your poem is truly beautiful and I think it should be shared. Parkinson's is a cruel disease. I would like to share this on fb with your permission.
