The leaf

Fragile yet resilient.

As thin as paper
As light as a feather
So seemingly insignificant
Yet as resilient as a ship
A ship caught in the storm
Hanging from a thin green thread
Just like hopes and dreams
Just like the arc that saved us all

                                       So delicate 
                                       So fragile
                                       Yet so requisite
                                       And in the end 
                                       It's life 
                                       So short and uncertain 


                                                                       O green oar of life
                                                                       How do you do it
                                                                       Why do you do it
                                                                       Protect us all
                                                                       All the while defying
                                                                       Defying the winds of change
                                                                       And yet in the end
                                                                       Burning and dissolving 
                                                                       Into a dry colorless crisp
                                                                       Like you never existed
