My Constant

My Constant

A Poem by P.J.
"

for naomi

"

My Constant

Can our universe above with all the host of heaven

Contain a star that outshines all the rest?

Burning lights and shooting stars

Soaring high and reaching far

Those awesome sights

Those eternal heights

Surely in this space that never ends

I can find a constant, my chief of friends?

So sure was I that if I looked into the sky

My eyes would find that treasure chest

And so I saw fires that burned

Spinning my head, my heart turned

Compelling me

Drawing me

Could I find among all these,

My truest one and my constancy?

My weary head began to fall with looking up above

So many to choose from, so few to truly love

Then my eyes returned to earth

Then I saw my truest worth

Ever by my side

Always my confide

Why look elsewhere when you are there

My constant one, my answered prayer.

many thanks for those kind words
It must be thrilling and reassuring to have someone you think of in this way; gratifying for Naomi to be so highly, so ardently, regarded.
Truly lovely work, P. J.

This reminds me of that expression "the grass is always greener...". Why look so hard when what you are looking for is right there in front of you or by your side as you put it. If this was written for someone in particular I hope you let them read this. Excellent.

So intelligently written. Your imagination shows through in this poem well with a great ending that pulls at the heartstrings. Excellent poem.

powerful rumination into power-tapped contemplation. this is a moving piece that is brough toward bolfd by simply the way the author has set it onto the screen. the rhyme scheme provides flow, and the imagery provides the considering of chasms within the speaker, and in turn, the reader. well penned.
