When I Cried

When I Cried

A Poem by Richard
"

My life love and loss.

"

When the girl I loved asked another boy out,

I cried.

When she told me about holding his hand,

I cried.

This makes me consider what would happen if

I died.

Would she care, would she cry like

I cried?

Her boyfriend has the same name as me,

I fried.

They like each other a lot,

I cried.

I love her, the most of anyone,

I cried.

"I love the other Richard,"

She sighed.

I turned emo, and always think about what would happen if

I died.

Now I look at her from behind,

I cry, forbidden to love.

Very heartfelt and touching taking the reader into those innermost feelings of rejection. I remember a saying I read years ago, Love wasn't put in our hearts to stay, love isn't love until given away. This is so very true. Love is... whether received or rejected, it still is. Through pain and happiness, love is. You presented in this poem how through even something painful such as rejection and betrayal, love remains. If allowed, that same love will heal not allowing a root of bitterness to take hold but rather see a more worthy destination is planned for that love to rest upon. God Bless.

So sad. I like the way you did this. It's so hard having your heart broken.
