Strips of Warmth

Strips of Warmth

A Poem by SoulExchanger
"

There comes the sun, and with it, goes the darkness.

"
You lived your life in empty shades
Apollo hasn’t used his chariot
There were stars
but despite what they all say,
stars aren’t always enough to light your way home.

You’ve kept your head down
Used to the loneliness
The calm, and the cold
Curl up to trap the little bit of warmth you still have

There used to be wind
Wind that came in small gusts
that ruffled your hair and slid over your skin
but it was always cold.
It brought prickly sand, and you burrowed your head even more.

When warmth comes in, you are astonished at the feeling.
You take a peak, and stare as strips of orange, pink and yellow
gets painted onto your skin
You lift your head and look.
There comes the sun,
and with it, goes the darkness.

Hello. Thank you for your entry into the Picture Poem This Contest. I enjoy the read, understanding the message in it's entirety. There is a little mistake I picked up "...that ruffled your hear and slid over your skin..." (hear) should be hair, I believe. It's a fine write and I'm glad you were inspired by my chosen image!
