Emotions

Emotions

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

Sometimes this is too much

But I can’t save myself

Keep lying until there is nothing else

This is so close to me

But yet is so far

These emotions that run through my heart

Yet I still rise

You have a sense of guilt

I have so much pride

Your hate keeps me alive

I will burn this world you built

With this last love you die

I’ve been hiding my feelings

So this world can’t steal them

I can’t see

These shadows blind me

All alone I scream

As my imagination becomes a disease

Dreaming of better days

Only nightmares come awake

So scared and afraid

In a bottle full of pain

And there is no escape

I suffocate

In broken shadows you fall

My pain calls

I won’t answer it at all

My tears have all been lost

My eyes are as dry as the sun

My heart has nowhere to go

I drown in ashes

As I reach for my soul
