Monstrous Insanity

Monstrous Insanity

A Poem by Kiss the Rain
"

You are your only friend. No one is here. You are your own monster.

"
We're the same you know
Same face
Same sins
Same twisted smile
Cracking through our faces
So much the same
We are like the same person
We are the same person
You are me
I am you
Like a mirror
It is a mirror
Gleaming back
Giggling insanely
No one is here
You are your only friend
No one is here
You are your own monster

This is interesting, I like the repetitions with slight changes. But, I think you may have found the phrase "monstrous insanity" and liked it so much you wanted to use it, but didn't quite make it there. The line "You are your own monster" is a bit of a shock (as are the lines directly preceding it) -- there doesn't seem to be much transition from the similarities to the monstrosity. Remember that words are only as powerful as you allow them to be, and since "monster" is a little vague (what do YOU mean by "monster" vs. what do I think when I hear "monster"), you need to make sure that you bring your reader to the very end of the poem with you in your thought processes.

THIS one felt right. It tastes of you in the word choice and its rhythm and flow. Smooth transitions.
