Christmas Remembered

Christmas Remembered

A Poem by Bobbie Coelho

Jingle bells, and winter smells
Crowded shops, people buying lots
Holly and ivy sold
Just as in times of old
Brimming pubs, full of Christmas cheer
Becoming more so with each glass of beer
Christmas Eve, children try to sleep
But wait expectantly: they so want to peep
At Santa piling presents in a heap
Santa arrives at last on his sleigh
Whizzing around the world in one day
All the good girls and boys
Can’t wait to play with their toys

Peace on earth, virgin birth
Angel singing holy verse
While opening gifts beside the tree
Tell me, if you please,
Does anyone ever remember when
A star guided three wise men
So they could kneel before a newborn boy
Who came to fill our lives with joy?

Love it. I love anything Christmas related. Have you seen the movie Elf? I am Buddy in real life. :) Great poem!

Thank you for the feedback.
No, not really. No one will remember when a star guided three men because the "when" is not given in that story. Although, since shepherds were camping out in the fields at night, with their flocks, it was likely springtime,..and not the heart of winter - aka: December 25th.
