Styrofoam

Styrofoam

A Poem by Bookburner09
"

modern britain reflections upon

"
Styrofoam poets,
Coffee shop hero's,
Tear gas smiles,
Idiots shout opinions,
Against placards of hatred,
Held by the bigots.

Followed by the disillusionists,
We live through the lives of pointless celebrities,
Whilst strangers are eyed with suspicion,
Park bench politicians spouting forth vitriol,
Preaching to the illiterate,
Words of hatred mixed in with rhetoric of lies.

Spun like old wives tales made reality,
Seers tag subway walls for the middle classes,
Escapism from the Monday morning comute,
Seeking hero's in the shadows,
Of former factory walls,
The rain stalls upon the wasteland.

Washing away the stains of defeat,
Wasted youth flows beneath my contempt,
Stood where victories have be hard fought,
Tasted defeat in the wind,
Stood by the changes,
Resisted sentiments.

Pushed aside the curtain,
To glimpse the world I dream of,
Vision of harmony,
Shadows cased by fools,
Words wasted by idiots,
Points of view hammered home.

Like nails in a pauper's coffin,
Pallbearers gather dust,
As society's death knell sounds,
Adrift in the turmoil,
The voices of reason,
Lost to the winds of change.
