Widow

Widow

A Poem by brae

Dazed, I kept walking
Forgotten, I kept looking
Alone, I kept smiling.

There were no stars
But I wished on them
There was no sun
But I sat under a tree
There was no marriage
But I wore my ring

I was gone
But people kept talking to me
I was lost
But no one gave me directions
I was dead
But nobody buried me.

Wow...I'm almost speechless. This piece is very simple, but oh so powerful and deeply touching. The sense of loss is painful and blunt and doesn't allow the reader to be comfortable with it. Great work once again.
