Without Me

Without Me

A Poem by Kesha
"

.....

"
& so the day began
Just like any other.

Except you weren't there
Or maybe you were,
Maybe I was the one
who wasn't aware.

I started the coffee
& glanced around.

My belongings were
In a pile on the ground.

My heart raced
Out of my chest.

My blood rushed
Straight to my face.

& my eyes popped
Out of my head.

Is it true
That there was never
Anybody else?

Is it true
You really cared
What I had to say?

Why won't you answer me?
Where are you?

I'm sorry if I ever hurt you,
I'm sorry if I never listen.

But you can't leave..

Please not today.

Running from room to room,
Searching for your face.

I spot you in the bathroom,
Staring into the mirror.

Standing behind you,
Breathing beside you.

Not a movement from you,
Not a glance from you.

Your hand moves for the comb,
Like it's just any ordinary day.

Except your face has a solemn look,
a deep sadness,
a tragic heartbreak,
resonating with you.

I go to grasp your shoulder,
But my hand slides right through you.

My heart falls into a
Dark abyss within my chest.

My breathing stops completely,
As remembrance hits me hard.

A tragic death,
A sorrow accident,
A horrible mistake.

Your gun cocked,
Your bullet hit me,
Straight on the head.

Tears fell from your eyes daily,
Knives threatened your throat,
Death promised you an easy escape.

However guilt ate at your heart,
Cowardice was not your way.

You fought through the pain
& continued to live each day.

Day after day
You choked back dismay.

Day after day
Eventually you were led astray.

Alcohol and cocaine,
Were your only friends.

Driving annihilated,
Unaware of
Your surroundings.

A willow tree,
So elegantly beautiful,
Granted your only wish.

Limber & slack,
Your body painted
with crimson.

Your eyes gazing
To the souls above.

& sweet relief
Washed over you,
As you took,

your last breath...

Pearl Jam re does
It but it's an oldies song
In spite of a strong love there are times when the distance and misunderstanding just keeps growing.
This is a very tragic write. Hope no one has to face this.

glad you liked it!
if we don't listen, if we constantly challenge and mistrust---we drive a wedge between...and later we can only regret that what we had, we pushed away!

absorbing and tragic piece...

... This was a powerful piece, with imagery and emotions that cut me quite deep... Personal tie-ins to my own life, and the succinct style of rhyme scheme left me breathless till the last line.. This is a difficult subject to convey in good taste, sometimes, and this time, you are flawless... Heart-achingly penned...

Beautifully capturing the hollowness of all those things that once felt so solid, now feeling empty and bare for another's absence.
