Wrapping around me

Wrapping around me

A Poem by Kesha
"

........

"
I don't count any sheep
to fall asleep,
Instead I count the hours
You've been gone,
Minutes and seconds
Sometimes too.

I keep a stop watch on my night stand,
So when I awake,
I'll know exactly

How long it has been,
Since you've laid beside me.

I want you to know
I still sleep with your words
elegantly hanging from my ears
with one vowel
Struggling to hang on
By a single thread
Of that letter E.

I don't count any sheep
to fall asleep
Instead I count how many
Times my heart beats
Since you've been gone,
Gasps and tears
sometimes too.

I keep your teeshirt on my bedside,
to remind myself that you were once
Very real to me,
So I don't forget
Our memories.

Because when the night
Crushes down on me,
I can't breathe,
I can't stand to be without you.

And I know your body
Is buried six feet deep,
But I can still feel your presence
Wrapping around me.

Every second of the day,
Every morning when I make
Your favorite breakfast.

And I know I'll never
Lay my eyes on your body again,
But I can't bring myself to erase your pictures
To erase you from my life.

To do so would be absolutely heartbreaking.

I know everyone says I'll find another,
But truthfully,
I know,
There is no other like you,
There is no other lover for me.

And I swear,
I can feel your arms

Was my pleasure and you are welcome.
One of the very best descriptions of how it can feel to miss a beloved that's been taken by death. Your excellent descriptions & good details help the reader actually see & feel & smell & touch everything you're sharing about how this feels. I like the way this poem expresses the gentle sensations of remembering how good it used to be, rather than making it a big steaming heartbreak session. It's like you're teaching us how to grieve by holding onto the positive memories.

Thank you very much! :)
Wonderfully expressed! Love the sincerity of the sentiments for a loved one now gone. By the way, this is a genuine review and not an angry copy and paste one, lol. Your write is worth much more than that.

Haha omg that last part made me laugh, Thank you do so very much, I'm glad you liked it!
I am bawling! You have penned my exact thoights, but ones i could never voice coherently. They say it gets easier with time. They say you should just move on, you should be over this by now. Truth is, some things get easier. But what they don't understand is how raw my heart really is or how the wounds open anew every day. You never drop loving them, and little reminders pop up to let you know they still care: a song, a perfectly timed word or a phrase you thought long forgotten - murmured by a stranger in passing, a flower on your path, a breeze in the air, a smell as you walk through the store. They show up in your dreams. You feel their presence as you cry yourself to sleep, wrapping around you like a security blanket. They may be gone, but our hearts will never forget. We will heal. We will move on, but grief can't be rushed.or contained to a time frame. Well written. Kudos.
