It was me

It was me

A Poem by Kesha
"

......

"
I weaved
And weaved

A story
Not for your
Ears.

A story
Only
Meant for
Me.

A story of
Love
and heartache

A story of
Pain
and
Gore.

It was me,
Up in the
Middle of
the night.

Whispering
Hushed
Words
To the moon.

Singing
A sad
Ballad
To the stars

Up above.

My hands
Cracked
And sore
From pulling
On the weeds

In our garden

In our love

Our relationship

It was me,
Bleeding
From my feet

Trudging
Through
The mud.

My hair in knots

My lungs

Out of
Oxygen.

Labored.

Sighs
Through
the midnight
storm.

Lightning.

It was me.

Thank you so much! :)
I like the way your message starts out simply stated, but it grows more complex & intense as it goes along. I especially love the haunting nature of the repeated refrain (your title) . . . the only word that felt like a bump is "gore" (not in the same mood as the rest of your descriptions). The last half of the poem is my favorite . . . it kind of shows us a gory aspect of this unrequited love, but the word "gore" just doesn't encompass this hopeless & fragile idea of being tortured by this . . . maybe "torture" would be better than "gore" . . . but of course, every poet has their particular preferences & reasons *smile* . . . Fondly, Margie

No problem :)
Your opening lines reminded me about Clotho, one of the Moirai, or the Fate Sisters, that, along Atropos and Lahkesis, is weaving the fate of mortals...that would be very nice - to hold somebody else responsible for our destiny, but unfortunately, everything we do or don't is our choice, so we have only ourselves to blame...I enjoyed this very much :)
