our forevers aren't the same

our forevers aren't the same

A Poem by Breanna Riddle

forever and always
thats what we would say
but today is the day
that i knew they weren't the same

forever to you
and forever to me
are like comparing
purple to green

always to you
and always to me
is like comparing
a frog to a tree

mine is till the end of time
and yours is as fast as you can flip a dime
mine is the love i  once had for you
and yours was a s long as you had something to do

now that we established the difference
please don't bother to come near
because yes i did hold you dear
but now that i need you, you are not here

That is how it happens. Great piece and to prove it, I have to tell a story.

When I was very young and was married it ended in divorce, I survived of course but questioned why, how does it happen. I went to my dad who had been divorced before and said, tell me dad how did it happen to you.

He said, well son every time I said it was white, she said it was black and every time I said it was black, she said it was white. I got where I couldn't stand it anymore.

In all of history and all time no matter what the reason, that was the plain truth of the matter.

Thank you for indulging my memories of past lives.

While I think it lost its way towards the end - and how poetically fitting since 'they' did too.
Filled with bittersweet - penned in wonderfully philosophical ink and not bitter at all.
Congratulations on winning second prize with this one.
