An Introduction

a brief poem about the type of person I am

Hello,

I don’t think we’ve met.

Allow me to introduce myself;

I am the girl that you

See at the store.

The one that doesn’t

Stand out against the sea

Of busy people purchasing groceries.

I am the girl that whispers

“excuse me” and “thank you”

With a polite smile and head nod

While you stare at cereal options.

I am the girl that wanders

Up and down every aisle

Without a clear purpose.

I am the girl that you wonder

What is going on in her head?

I am the girl that looks sad,

Like she lost someone important.

Maybe I look this way

Because I have.

Hi, nice to meet you. I'm the fella with the bad eye sight that bumps into you, excusing myself, red faced and mumbling. I ask if you're okay, you nod, look at your feet and carry on your way, scanning each shelf but buying very little, seemingly oblivious to all around you. I watch as you exit OUR aisle, and you are gone......
