DistractionA Poem by Brenaa poem I wrote when I couldn't focusI want to sleep, but my eyes are glued to the TV. My mind tells me I need to stay awake to know what happens next. It’s an episode of Bob Ross. I’ve seen it before, but my mind forces me awake to know what he’ll paint. I realize that my mind isn’t actually focused on the soft-spoken man on the screen. My mind has wandered miles away. My mind has wandered to you. I wonder if you’re awake or if your heart aches like mine. My hart is beating our song, but it can’t hear your part. I realize a new episode has started, but I’m still 3500 miles away. I’m with you, imagining a hug, a kiss, a touch, a glance, anything. I’m imagining you here with me. I blink again as Netflix asks if I’m still watching. I hit “continue” but only continue thinking of you. © 2017 BrenaAuthor's Note
