Memories

Memories

A Poem by Your Tasty Field Advisor

I have run from my memories for many years
They keep coming back to remind me of all my fears
My mind just won’t let go of the past
I’m tired of covering my past.

I have forgotten what is real and what is a dream
There’s nothing in me to show the truth in what I see
I lived my entire life filled with lies
All of my hope of finding a way dies.

I hate each day
Friends drift away
I hate each day
I lose my way.

I lay in bed, awake
Knowing it’s late
Knowing my fate
To die by hate.

Memories of the love I had in me
Memories that come back and make me see
See what I was in the years past
See what I’ve created to last.

Memories of hiding my face of tears
Hiding my face from my lingering fears
Memories of a life without love
I remember now, when I do have love.

I hate each day
Memories stay
I hate each day
I lose my way.

Memories keep me trapped inside this life
My soul is kept inside this box of darkness
Memories keep me in sight of the scythe
My hopes and dreams just keep getting less and less.

Memories keep me trapped inside this life
My soul is kept inside this box of darkness
Memories keep me in sight of the scythe
My hopes and dreams just keep getting less and less.

No one can get away from memories
No one can keep their mind just on the present.
