Plans that were not Satisfied

Plans that were not Satisfied

A Poem by Bright Eyes

A lover, a friend, a fellow, a peer
A hug, a kiss, a rose, a tear
A sketch in gray, a sonnet in blue
These are the things that did make you

Some plans, some talk, the knot was tied
But plans were never satisfied
I sang a song of serenity
And then the ship set sail

The masts were up, the sea was black
And truculent winds did you not lack
Embarking, you said, but just to hide
The icy, cold, dark inside
