Goodbye Rochester

Goodbye Rochester

A Poem by Bryan Wang

Seventeen years spent here,
Don't know how I lasted so long.
Was supposed to overcome some fears
Instead of letting 'em get the best of me.

Bouncing some orange ball
Like my life depended on it
Didn't bring any extra phone calls.
Pain wasn't supposed to get the best of me.

Goodbye Rochester,
I told you I didn't like roller coasters
But I thank you for putting me on this road

Goodbye Rocheste,
I didn't want people coming and going
But at least I'm better at cracking the code

What is love when you're young?
It's not just goodbye with a kiss.
Hearts on radio and a claimed song
Doesn't mean you've been hit by Cupid's arrow.

Never sniped perfect scores,
Didn't really fit in a group.
Wasn't uncommon to be ignored.
Funny who rang the doorbell, a brand new low.

Watching his breaths slow down
Allowed me to open the door
And not fear the dancing of a frown.
The chapter of a story was ending soon.

True growth never ceases.
Life is a maze don't forget,
Without edits and with all pieces.
It's ok if bad flashbacks come with color.
