Lonely Gentleman

Lonely Gentleman

A Poem by Ray Hamilton
"

Dedicated To A Dear Friend

"

Lonely Gentleman

As the petals drip from these pretty red roses

The moon in the night sky ~ like a lonely gentleman poses

He knows when you are away he will miss you so

Wishes on a star ~ that you didn't have to go

As seven spanish angels plays

He prays that to happiness ~ you will find your way

He knows that you and he shall never meet

That doesn't stop his heart from skipping a beat

He has seen all your gentle loving ways

You show them to him more each day

He adores your friendship more than you know

Appreciates all the kindness you have shown

For your health and happiness he does pray

As he dances across the clouds till the break of day

Your good friend he will always be

In case you haven't guessed it

This lonely gentleman is me

What a magnificent poem. The words are wonderful, so poignant, so touching. The way you have laid the page out, the images and the background music really adds something to make it stand out. I love the work, and wish you every success in the contest.

I have to ask this; please, be not offended, but in the first line you use the word 'peddles' as in:
As the peddles drip from these pretty red roses
Perhaps, is there a meaning in American English I'm not aware of, but being from UK. I read the word as a verb meaning to sell or trade goods, whereas you appear to use the same as a noun.

Excellent piece of writing, and thanks for posting.

Fantastic poem! I liked it. '...till the break of the day' it will surely remain in me, and again the following day it will start its action.

That is the quality of a good poem.

Thank you.

It seems we all have walked in your shoes at one time or another,,well written and a very nice thought of Willy Nelson and the blind singer "7 Spanish Angels" one of my favorite songs only at this minute.oh Ray Charles...for a "non poet" you write very well and hold a persons attention until the ending,,Nice flow and write,,God bless..Valentine
